Describe what your ears hear as the perfect song.

A perfect song is a song that has great melodies. I love to hear the flow of a song. Babyface is one of the best songwriters of our time and I believe it’s because he has the ability to portray the feelings of a song through beautiful melodies. Along with a great melody, I believe that the lyrics of a song are essential to making a perfect song but to complete a perfect song than you need the perfect track. When those three elements come together, I believe you have the potential of making a PERFECT song. When my ears hear all three things then it just jumps up and down and screams for ice cream.

Are you more musical or lyrical of an artist?

I would say that I am more of a lyrical artist. I love painting a picture with words.

Do you play any instruments?

I wish I could. My Lord, I would save a grip of money on production.

But I do play a little (very very little) piano but not enough to change my name to SeanLegend or let the dreads fly in the wind while slamming the keys on a Baby Grand. I wish I would have focused more of my piano lessons as a child but it was so much more fun playing basketball with the homies instead learning how to play “When The Saints Come Marching In”.

What is your sound?

I always say that I have a smooth but yet hard sound. I call it D’Boe Suave.

Who is your musical inspiration?

Love inspires me. I learn from life and I had found that love is always the common solution to life’s problem. Sometimes love doesn’t make sense but it still has a story that needs to be told. I believe that you can get inspiration from every artist. That’s why I purchase a new CD every Tuesday because I can learn something from every artist and draw some type of inspiration from every artist.

What is the inspiration for Maria’s In Love? Who is Maria?

This song was inspired by love as well. I wanted to paint a picture of real love. So this is a real story. It’s my love story. I learned through that relationship that despite what the world says about love, REAL love is only between you and the one that needs love. Love is unconditional and has no boundaries. Every woman that has searched for love or has been afraid to love because of outside views is Maria.

Where was the song written and recorded?

I wrote this song shortly after searching the Bible for a better understanding of love. I read the Book of Hosea and one night around 4am in the morning, I spent the whole night writing my love story down. I perfected the verses then the next week, I recorded it at Dat Heat Studio in Little Rock.

What is the song’s message?

The message of this song is simple. Never be afraid to love.
